Grow With

The Tools He Uses.

Designed in partnership with self-sufficiency specialist Huw Richards. Long-life, UK-manufactured propagation trays built to last 15+ years – and small enough to start on a windowsill.

About Huw

Gardener, Author & Permaculture Advocate

Based in Wales, Huw Richards started growing at the age of three and launched his hugely successful YouTube channel as a young teenager. He has since become one of the UK’s most influential voices for growing your own food – thoughtful, philosophical, and deeply practical.

His approach centres on working with nature rather than against it – principles closely aligned with permaculture and regenerative agriculture. He is the author of several popular books, including Veg in One Bed and The Self-Sufficiency Garden.

The HR Range

Designed for How Real Growers Work

The HR range was built around one insight: sometimes you need fewer plants, grown well, in less space. Every tray in the range shares the same generous cell volume as Containerwise’s flagship 40L tray – but configured for efficiency.

HR10

10-Cell Tray

Narrow design perfect for windowsills. Fill awkward gaps on propagation shelves. Ideal for starting seeds with fewer plants needed.

HR20

20-Cell Tray

Same cell volume as the 40L but 50% fewer cells. Saves space while giving seedlings the room they need to develop strong root balls.

Base

Base Tray

Internal ridges support the propagation tray and assist air-pruning. Holds 2x HR10 or 1x HR20. Manages watering and prevents run-off.

Kits

Starter Kits

Complete windowsill setups including base tray, polycarbonate greenhouse lid, HR10s and HR20s. Everything you need to start growing.

Built to Last

UV-stabilised, recyclable polypropylene. Injection-moulded and dimensionally stable. Proven 15+ year lifespan. Fully recyclable at end of life.

Anti-Spiral Root Ribs

Specially designed ribs assist air-pruning, encouraging the formation of a dense, high-quality root ball within each cell for stronger transplants.
